Adoption stories

I have been thinking, and I think I would like to add a new page to our web site www.lifelongtails.org. I will name it "Adoption Stories" But I will need help from you. What I need is stories and/or pictures of pet (s) you have adopted from us. And you know me, I love pictures and stories, especially about pets we have known and still know. Please send stories and pictures to my e-mail rachel@lifelongtails.org if you have adopted from us. I will add them to the web site for all to see :) Thank you so very much for helping me out.

Mrs.Rachel? I wanted to know how much the three Russian Siberian hamsters. Jones ,Jordan, and Justin cost separably cost and why aren't they on your website? Can you please post their prices on your blog or website? I'm hoping to buy them. Thank you if you do!

Hi Pravindi,
Yes, we do still have Jones and Jordan. Justin was adopted. Unfortunetly, they don't live together anymore, they did get aggressive with each other after a while. They must be kept serperate. Jordan is the nicer of the two, a very friendly fellow. And his adoption fee is $5.00.
Would yo ulike to set up a day and time to meet and/or adopt?

Thanks you guys at Life Long Tails! The bad thing is that my parents can only get me a hamster because if I get good grades again on my marking period at the end of October. I think they would probably be adopted by then. I wish rescue centers were able to ''reserve'' pets. I'll try to get my dad to adopt Jordan or Jones earlier. Thanks a lot for the info!

hi Pravindi,
i just read the guestbook comments, I love everything you wrote. Jones and Jordan are doing well and there is a good possibilty they might still be here at the end of October. No one else has inquired about them.
The comment made by Happy Tails was really strange. I am not sure why they would jump to conclusions about us without knowing us. We specify on our web site that we are no-kill. And we are certainly not a pet shop! We help the injured, abused and unwanted. We are all about nurturing and caring for the rescues and rehoming them to good, loving homes. Happy Tail's words fell on deaf ears on my side, because those words were the farthest from the truth. some people just like to stir up trouble and I am not falling for it :)
Thank you Parvindi. And since you don't have an e-mail you can write to me through the blog this way, and yes, you may call me Rachel :)

my family had found a stray cat. i know that u only bring in small animals but i saw Jade and i wanted to know whether u do.we kept her for 5 days but then my mom had to put her out because she doesn't want anyone to get sick.if you can take her in please tell.
and also,do hamsters need vaccinations and injections daily?did the hamsters have that done already?

small pet rescue said...

I am so sorry, but we cannot help you with the kitty. We adopted Jade for our family and we do have 6 cats right now that we adopted from the SPCA as well. We made a firm decision that we will not take in any dogs or cats. Do you need any references to other cat rescues in the area?
No, hamsters don't need any vaccinations or anything else like that. If yuor hammie seems off or ill in any way I do recommend a prompt trip to the vet to see what is wrong and what can be done to make him better :)

Anonymous said...

thank you for the info. i asked you because since i might get a hamster,i thought the kitty might be able to go too.ill just research the web and search for a cat rescue.thanks also for the info on the hamsters!!You guys there are really nice!

hi Rachel! if Amanda decides to adopt another hamster,i found a really goos website that helped me a lot! its called hamsteriffic.com.it tell illnesses and more too! if you have time you should really check it out.it can help if a hamster gets sick, good nutrition and more!i told u this becuz u take care of small animals.by the way, how old is jordan and jones?

Anonymous said...

i am sending you too many comments but i wanted to know.if i fill out an adoption application how long will i have to wait before i can pick the hamster up from your rescue center?and also, how will i know if i can adopt him?

small pet rescue said...

Hi Pravindi,
Jones and Jordan are 6 months old now. Jordan is the sweeter of the two hamsters. I took pictures of him last night, and of me holding him, they came out blurry though , he was moving around too much.
When you fill out an application it gets sent to my e-mail inbox. When I see and read it will be when we ( hubby and I) approve or not, then we will contact you, It is usually the same day you send it out, I check my e-mail regularly.
I'll see what I can do with those pictures, if I can get them clear enough I'll send them to you or post them in the blog :)

thank you for answering my last and final questions about them.now until the end of October i will work hard on my studies.i will do that after too!when the time comes you will have an adoption application for Jordan. Hopefully i will be Jordan's owner or Jones.who know? maybe i can teach Jones to be kinder?

This stinks! It really does! I'm not going to be able to adopt Jordan OR Jones because my Dad or his friends don't know how to get there. Also, m dad thinks it's too far away. I begged but my dad didn't let me. I'm sorry Rachel... I really am.

small pet rescue said...

Hi Pravindi,
Where are you located? Maybe we can help with directions? Or meet you half way.. or even bring Jordan to you. I'll let you know if we can figure out where you are :)

Anonymous said...

I am located at Staten Island, NY 10302 and I think that your zip code is 14225? My dad thinks: too far away! Is it really possible if you can bring it? Usually it's expensive to do that. Also if you can bring Jordan halfway, where can ,my dad and I meet you?

your located at 4 Well worth Place right?i looked at map for directions nut it leaded me to buffalo and new jersey. i got pretty confused from it.

small pet rescue said...

Anonymous said...

your near buffalo? i thought you were in Cheektowaga because it was on your website. oh did you get the comment about where i can meet you?

bad news! i researched the Google maps and saw that it was about an 8 hour drive from my address. I'm not sure what to do...my dad will probably be too tired to drive this far away.lets see if i leave at 10:00 it would be 6:00.and 8 MORE hours to drive back.it would be about 2:00 a.m. in the morning. at 7:00 it would be 11;00 p.m. when i get back. also. what if Jordan gets really hungry or something?NO CLUE WHAT TO DO..

The felines rescue sounded like a good one. Darn. I didn't know they had moved.
The saveapet web site is actually
www.1-800-save-a-pet.com you can find shelters there as well as
www.pets911.com and www.petfinder.com

Rachel,
do you know where the staten island council for animal welfare is? i looked at their website and i looked at google maps but it had different addresses. did you get tmy comments about jordan/jones? i wrote it to u a few days ago but its not on the blog.

small pet rescue said...

I'll have to do a search for that, I'll see if I find anything.
I have looked over all the posts, maybe that one got lost?
I last remember you mentioning that Staten Island is almost 8 hours from us, sounds like yuo are near New York City? That is a very long drive, even to meet half way would be 4 hours, and an 8 hour drive total for the both of us.
I am very reluctant to ship any of our rescues. I fear for their safety and health. I just don't know what other way or option there is of getting Jones or Jordan to you.
I'll have to rack my brains to find a way. Maybe a friend or family member lives in between us?

small pet rescue said...

I found this link for the animal wellfare group
http://members.petfinder.org/~NY34/sicawindex.htm
It seems to have a phone number as well as an address in it

Anonymous said...

thank u for the website. i hope that's their real address and phone.ill check.also i agree with u.i don't want them to be harmed in any way at all.im thinking too.im not sure if i have any family members or friends.ill ask parents and my uncles and aunts.im thinking real hard.

Whoa! There are thirty-three comments here! I would like to make it thirty-four...
Rachel,
You know Amanda right? So do I. When I came to her house, I couldn't believe my eyes! It had so many animals there...
She sure loves animals (especially hamsters).

small pet rescue said...

The only Amanda I know through adopting , andI hope it is okay that I post her full name here, is Amanda Farner. I also work with a few AManda's at my job.
Do you mean Amanda has a lot of animals or we have a lot? Cause we sure do :) we love them all to pieces.
