Things?

One of my pet peeves is when someone has a pet and they always call their pet "it" or "thing" If you know know your pet is male or female , say "she" or "him" or better yet, use their name. I can understand if you don't know your pet's gender yet and you haven't thought of a name, OK, understood. Even so , most pet lovers use a temporary, universal, nickname like "honey" or "Sweetie." When I here someone say , " Oh that thing over there, it smells and eats too much, it's getting on my nerves." or even if used in a nice way " I give it treats everyday and clean it's cage." to me it sounds like the person doesn't have much regard for their pet, or even a relationship. When people use the terms "thing" or "it" I get the impression the pet is just there or a possession and not really all that liked or loved, and definitely not a part of the family. I could be totally wrong in my theory and feelings, but it is just how I feel when I hear someone speak of their pet that way.

Elso and Pugsley

This Wednesday , Elso and Puglsey the rabbits were adopted! :) They have been with us since March, waiting that long to be adopted and taken home. Elso and Puglsey are bonded lionhead rabbits. Elso is a neutered boy and Puglsey is a spayed female. They were a gift for a daughter. Their new family researched rabbits and knew that bonded bunnies are the best and they found Elso and Puglsey on Petfinder. They are doing great in their new home and are settling in. They are enjoying hay and veggies and a name change. Elso is now Simba and Puglsey is Nala. Good names for rabbits that love each other.

Christmas Eve, adoptions and December 31st

Happy Christmas Eve everyone :):) and Merry Christmas for tomorrow since I probably won't get a chance to post.
Yesterday we had many adoptions, many of our rescues were given the greatest gift of all , a new loving home that they will be cherished and loved in for the rest of their days. 3 of our dwarf hamsters went home, two babies from the recent litters that resulted in the nine hamster drop off with 2 pregnant females were adopted. I had named them Cheerio and AppleJack, I'll add a picture of them with Mom hamster, they were 6 weeks old at the time of adoption , old enough to be away from Momma. I already had them separated by males and females too. Then our special hamster, Blake, was adopted by the same family. Blake had developed cataracts in both his eyes , leaving him with poor vision and more than likely, blind. Despite his condition , he remained a nice hamster he only needed a warning that you were there and about to pick him up.
Next to be adopted was Jingle Bell and Figgy Pudding. Two more of Poinsettia's babies. Speaking of her babies, her newest litter now have their eyes open and they are moving about ! :) Figgy and jingle went to a home with a Mom and daughter who have done a lot of research on how to care for rats, since they are new rattie owners and they were well prepared for their new fur babies, I will add pictures of him too.
Then Snowy the rabbit went home. Snowy also went home to someone who is new to rabbits but she did tons of research and made sure she had everything she needed, even a rabbit proofed room. Snowy wasn't happy at all with being in a carrier when it came time to taking him home, he was trying his best to dig and bite his way out. I tried reassuring him that the carrier was temporary but I don't think he believed me one bit. I am sure he has calmed down by now, he only had a little ways to go before he was home. He is an adjustable bunny , I know with a little time he will fit right in. I'll add a photo of him too, this photo was taken by dawn G, didn't she take a nice picture of him?
On December 31st we have a lot of spays and neuters happening. 2 sugar gliders are getting neutered, Mario and Archie. Ava the bunny is getting spayed. And Pizzazz the long haired bunny that came from the horrible breeder is getting spayed. Plus the Holland lop, Almond and white and brown bunny, Cashew, are getting neutered. It will be a busy day for me and the vet, and sad to say, a stressful day for those that are getting fixed.
Take care , and have a safe and happy holidays !

Noel and new arrivals

Today, Noel the baby girl rat was adopted. Noel was the only girl from the group of ten baby rats. She has wonderful Mom now and hopefully, very soon , she will bond with her friend Mee-too the girl rat.

Now that I think of it, I am not sure if I wrote about Tinsel the rat being adopted, did I? Tinsel has been adopted too, one of the baby boy rats. He is now good friends with Stanley the rat, formerly known as Will. Will was adopted from us, he was one of the three that were neutered. Tinsel's new Mom wrote us saying that Stanley and Tinsel are already grooming and playing with each other.

Here are pictures of Tinsel ( the lighter cream colored one) and Noel ( darker)

We picked up an unwanted ferret today. His name is Scout and he is three years old and a Marshall's ferret , the tattoo in the ear gives that away. this person was given Scout when she didn't even want him in the first place :( poor Scout. He was in a little cage, that was dirty and falling apart. I have already moved him into a multi-level cage with toys and hammocks and sleep sacks. So far he seems to be a very friendly and love able boy , I can't believe he has been given up twice, I don't understand it. I know we won't have a problem finding him that perfect forever home he wants.

A few days ago we were brought two cockatiels. I was told they are male and female, and they have mated and layed eggs together although the eggs have never hatched. We don't support or want breeding , but I would not want to split these two up they have been together for quite some time. Too bad there isn't spay/neuter for birds. The male is a grey and his name is Camelot. The female is a lutino and her name is Gabriel.

If I don't post before hand happy holidays everyone! :):)

Blaze and Stanley

The past couple of days I haven't been feeling good. I have been cleaning cages but not as much as usual. Not to worry though , I always make sure everyone has plentiful food and water no matter how I feel. I even called off of work today , I feel so Blah.. And I didn't call back anyone who left a message on the machine today , I apoligize to anyone who may have called today, I was sleeping, a lot. I will call back everyone tomorrow , I promise. I hopefully will also feel up to catching up on cage cleaning.

On a very sad note, Stanley the hamster passed away tonight. He fought the good fight, but the abscess and infection were just too much for his little body. Despite draining the abscess and antibiotics the infection never went away. I really did love that little guy and he will be sorely missed.

Yesterday, Blaze the guinea pig was adopted. He now is part of a family with kids that adore animals. His new Momma absolutely loves him and was whispering sweetness into his ear as she left to take him home. I couldn't be happier with Blaze's new home and I am sure he will be a one spoiled rotten pig. Here is a picture of him snuggling with us on the couch and in the covers.

I am going back to sleep now, good night everyone.

Stanley

I wanted to give an update about Stanley, the dwarf hamster with the abscess. He has been taking the Baytril antibiotic twice a day really well. After I give it to him, he wipes his paws and cleans himself for a long time, he must feel sticky from it. So far, the size of the abscess hasn't changed, it still looks awful. If it doesn't improve with the medicine we will not hesitate to do the surgery for him and have it removed. Dr.T says he is a great candidate for surgery since his energy and health are all still good despite the abscess. And he is still in great spirits and has a good appetite, I am thankful for that. Please get better Stanley.

Our forum

I tried my best to start a forum for all of us, and I know it is very sloppy. I am very computer illiterate and have a hard time figuring stuff out. i am sorry if you have a hard time making out the categories, but please join and post. I made it so we can all ask questions and discuss anything pet related. It isn't finished yet either, but I hope you guys like it, despite it's messiness.
here's the link to it http://smallpetforum.forumotion.com/index.htm

Two vet trips in two days

The two litters of hamsters will be old enough by next week to be on their own and by then I will have them separated by gender. They all seem quite friendly too. Most of them are the standard brown coloring , but their is one PEW, pink eyed white.

Momma rat , Poinsettia, is taking great care of her babies. They are developing, i can see fur coming in, and I can tell which ones will be darker and which ones will be lighter. Her other group of babies are doing wonderfully, I took some nice pictures of them. They are nervous but are coming along nicely, I know they'll calm down in time and become more bold and curious.

Yesterday I took Blaze and the three baby rabbits rescued from the backyard rabbit breeder in to see Dr.Fijas. We looked over Blaze first, he developed a bald spot on his back. Turns out he does have guinea pig lice. He now has been treated with Revolution to kill off the lice and even treat any mites if there are any. The babies all are healthy and it turns out we have two boys and a girl. The Holland lop is a boy and so is the white one with what I would call Siamese markings. And the really fluffy one which I am not sure if she is an angora or a jersey woolly or a cross between both is a definite girl. They are now separated accordingly. I know I'll probably have to separate the boys in time as they mature ,they may get aggressive towards each other, especially before we get them neutered. They have to be at least 12 weeks old before they can be altered.

Today I took Stanley the dwarf hamster and Americana the ferret to see Dr.T. Stanley had a huge lump on his mouth that just ballooned in size very quickly. The lump is an abscess. Dr.T drained from it was he could, yucky cheesy looking stuff that smells bad. And a direct quite from Dr.T " I love popping hamster zits the morning." Although this wasn't a zit he describes the draining being similar to popping a zit. Stanley is also now on Baytril and antibiotic to hopefully combat the infection and get rid of the abscess all together. Dr.T wants to see him back in one week and if their isn't any reduction in the abscess, then Stanley will need to have the infection removed surgically. I took in Americana just to have her medically looked over. When I play with her and watch I see a happy, healthy young girl... but a lonely girl too. She recently lost her best friend, Kodiak, to Lymphoma. I tried bonding her and our 6 year old ferret , Bandit to her but it didn't work. Bandit has always been by himself, and he is sickly with deteriorating insulinoma, so he didn't want to have anything to do with the energetic bouncy Americana. I would love to see Americana go to a ferret loving home, preferably with some one who has a single ferret that is also lonely and looking for a friend. So, I wanted Dr.T to assure me that she is healthy enough to be re homed. He told me she is fairly Young and her spleen is the perfect size and her lymph nodes are perfect. I told him that she does itch a lot and this could either be allergies or the beginnings of Adrenal disease which is common in ferrets but is treatable. All in all, she is healthy enough, so I'd like to see what I can do for her. I'd hate to see her go, but I must keep her best interests at heart. It could be a long time before any more ferrets arrive here, and even so, they may not take to Americana. Somewhere out there there is a lonely ferret and a person that is perfect for this little girl.

I'll include a picture of Noel, one of the baby rats from Poinsettia's first litter.. and her only daughter from that bunch.

A Full House

Here is a picture of our rat boy, Carlton, Lyra requested his picture. He is friendly with people but wouldn't bond with any other ratties. He was either petrified of the new rat to the point where he would squeal when the new rat came near and then fly to the other side of the cage in pure terror. Or he would be the dominant rat and beat up the new rat and cause wounds. He is a friendly mush ball with me, I can take him out and snuggle with him.
The two hamster litters that were born a couple weeks ago from the female that arrived with 2 boys in the cage with them, now have their eyes open and are moving all about. I took some pictures, many of them came out blurry, but I'll see what is salvageable. I'll be downloading pictures tomorrow.
The three sugar gliders are gorgeous, they are getting used to their new environment and all the new smells. They are eating great too, they devour everything I place in their bowls at night. They have eaten, cantaloupe, carrots, apples, cucumber, baby food, a dry fruit mix, their pellet food and I sprinkle the repcal and herpvite supplement on their food. They really dig in! only one of them is neutered. The other two have an appointment on Wednesday the 19th to be neutered.
A Momma rat and her litter of babies also were dropped off during the week. There are 10 babies, and here's the kicker, only one baby is female , all the rest are boys! The babies were already old enough to be away from Mom, so I separated them by gender. When I saw Momma, I had a feeling she was already pregnant again.. obviously the male (Father) wasn't taken away in time. She just had another litter of babies yesterday, yikes! Maybe we can find homes for all these babies before the newest ones are ready to be adopted. In the spirit of Christmas I gave the Mom and babies Christmas themed names. Mom is Poinsettia and her daughter is Noel. The boys are Tinsel, Yuletide, Rudolph, Gingerbread, Jingle Bell, Egg Nog, Figgy Pudding and Snow Man. I only need to think of one more name for a boy, I am thinking Chris Kringle.
We also had one more group of arrivals, baby bunnies! A wonderful person rescued these three bunnies from a horrible backyard breeder. By her description all the bunnies are out in the freezing cold, and granted , rabbits can live through some real cold, but my thoughts on it are: why should they be forced to go through when they can be indoors? Especially when their drinking water freezes! I was also told the hutches were just about falling apart , were filthy dirty and all the bunnies were in cramped overpopulated conditions. It breaks my heart and makes me mad, I wish I had the legal status and resources to shut the place down and find a sanctuary and homes for all the bunnies, but I don't. The local SPCA will be and has been notified about this person. I called myself. But I am not sure what can be done, she does provide food water and shelter for the bunnies, but the rescuer told me she doesn't EVER take them to the vet! I don't even want to think about that. I know I can't save and help them all and the wonderful rescuer couldn't either, but helping these three bunnies means the world to them. They have a chance now and are warm and safe. One is a Holland Lop, I have named him/her Almond. And one may be a jersey wooly and I have named him/her , Pizazz. The other is a breed I am not sure about and I have yet to come up with a name, I will though. I will soon have an appointment for Dr.T to sex them for me and look them over then they will be altered.
That's it for now, all I can say is that are home is now full, and we cannot take in anymore until some adoptions take place.

The adoptions, fosters and soon to be new arrivals

Thank you Lyra for the dapper rat link, it was really cute, I like it.
Nickel the guinea pig was first to be adopted. He was featured on our recent newsletter. His story was very sad.. but just turned happy. Nickel was found by an apartment tenant, he had been abandoned without food or water by his previous owners, and the owners had moved out a week before he had been found! He went that long without food , water, warmth, love .. it really is infuriating that anyone would leave their helpless pet without any care at all! I do understand if someone is forced to move and is unable to take their pet, but please PLEASE, make sure you find a home or someone to care for the pet until a home is found. I know that everyone who reads this blog would never do such a thing , I just wanted to write how I feel about that situation. It is amazing and a miracle that Nickle survived that long. He was a bit thin and very hungry and thirsty , but he bounced back into a very healthy and active piggy. And someone fell in love with his picture and story and had to adopt him, he was already a part of the family by the picture they saw :)
Next to be adopted is Chomper and Raphael the red eared slider turtles. Chomper had been with us for almost two years. The only reason she was difficult to place was due to her size. She's a BIG GIRL. She was ten years old when she arrived here, so that made her 12 years old at adoption. She's about the size of a dinner plate, maybe a bit bigger. And everyone that was interested in her over the years didn't have large enough enclosures to meet her needs. Then along came Raphael, he had been bumped from home to home at least four times, people just got tired of him or didn't want him anymore. Raphael was big too, not as large as Chomper but decent sized. Females of this species do grow larger than the males. I was told Raphael was 13 years old. Chomper and Raphael did bond together, many times I found Raphael basking on top of Chomper underneath the heat and UV light, like Chomper was a sunning deck. Happy news is, Chomper and Raphael were adopted together, YI pee!! I am so thrilled that Chomper has finally found her forever home and with her boyfriend in tow.
Then Envy was adopted. Envy is a female rabbit, she arrived here as a baby with Zachary and Anthony , her brothers. Soon after arrival, Zachary passed away under anesthesia, he had a foreign infection that circled his neck that didn't respond to any treatment, it was very difficult for us to bear. Next , Anthony was adopted and he is very much loved and has a girlfriend by the name of Layla. This left Envy, the last to be chosen, but she was still loved by us. She was skittish to be picked up by her new Momma, but she always has been afraid of being picked up. But then the uncanny happened, she melted into her new Momma's arms, she wasn't afraid anymore, it was meant to be :)
Yesterday, a Mom and daughter, who are fellow hamster lovers stopped by to help us with fostering hammies. Everyone knows that we are presently overloaded with hamsters. Plus there are two litters that are quickly growing up, they have fur now! They took home Power Puff Girl, Ben, Bart and Bill , and Ribbon, Lace and Thread. This helps me with having more room in the house for rescues and helps me with the amount of cleaning needing to be done. Foster families are always a blessing.
In just a short while , three sugar gliders will be arriving. They are on a road trip right now, they are coming from NJ. We are located near Buffalo , NY. It is snowy and slick right now, I hope they have a safe trip. I will give more details about each glider after they arrive.
Here is a picture of Chomper , Nickel and Envy.
Enjoy everyone, and have a wonderful weekend. I'll do my best to, even though I am working all weekend. Oh well, need to make the money for all the sweet critters.

Just a quick entry

I have lots of news but only a little time, I need to use the rest of the night to clean some cages. We have some adoptions :) Chomper and Rafeal the turtles were adopted, as well as Envy the rabbit and Nickel the guinea pig. This Saturday we may be receiving some sugar gliders in need of help and rehoming. I will post more tomorrow and go into more detail about all these happenings. What a great day though :)

The ratties cage

So far I have been spending the day cleaning hamster cages, then I need to clean fiona's cage and guinea pig cages. I gave the guinea pigs some canteloupe yesterday , they loved it!
This is a picture of Jack and Davy Jone's cage after I cleaned it. Both Jack and Davy Jones have recently been adopted, and they are doing fantastic. I like these pictures that they show all the "fun" they had in the cage , the toys , feece, hammocks, tubes. for any rat owners and lovers this may help with you with fun ideas for your furry friend. If anyone else would like to give me some idea for more fun, let me know, I can add it for future rat rescues.

And more babies

Yesterday , I isolated a female hamster that I was sure was pregnant into her own cage. And sure enough, today I discovered she had a batch of babies. This came from the group of nine hamsters that were a mix of 3 females, 2 males and 4 babies, all in one cage, a recipe for baby making. I seperated them all immediately, but I knew it was too late, I KNEW those females were already heavy with babies. I oringinally thought the 4 babies that I had named, Glitter, Jitter, Jules and Jubilee were all females. I inspected them today, and one is a definite male and the rest are females, thankfully they aren't old enough to procreate for another week. I always double check the little guys, sometimes they don't "show" until they are a little bigger what gender they are. So, Jubilee is a boy, and he moved in with Marco, Marcus and Nicholas, all boys that are only a week older than he is, they are getting along wonderfully.
Yesterday 3 guinea pigs arrived here. They are females, their names are Squiggy, Margo and Mini Margo. They are dark colored short hairs, and they are nervous and frightened in this new house, but I am sure they will calm down and open up very soon. They love timothy hay :) They will be getting checked out by Dr.T in the near future and I'll have pictures of them to post soon too.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I sure did , turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos , all the traditional foods. Then I had 2 slices of pie, I couldn't help myself. Ray and I played a game called Taboo with the family, it was a blast, a great day. What did everyone else do?

some of the pictures

Here are a couple of the pictures I took.

Paprika the hamster, she is cleaning herself. Pumpkin Pie the hamster eating some millet. And Martie our cat, all stretched out and relaxed.

A batch of babies

First off, I do have sad news. The white male dwarf hamster that I was worried about, he was brought to us all lethargic and not responsive.. I had an appointment for him at 4PM on Monday, but sadly he passed away before that time. He sure was cute and I wish we could have helped him, if only he had made it to us sooner, before he was so acutely sick. *sighs*
The female that came along with the male, she was bloody and extremely pregnant... She looks a whole lot better, and she had her litter of babies last night. If she had stayed in the same cage with all those other females and males that were beating her up, who knows how bad she would be right now, and she never would have safely had her babies. Right now I'll let her be, I won't disturb anything or count the babies for at least 2 weeks, that is when they will be poking their heads out of the nest and starting to crawl. I'll just fill up her water bottle and provide fresh food while she does her Momma business.
I took a whole bunch of pictures of some hamsters, hopefully some turned out. I took pictures of the babies that just weaned, plus some of the 43 hammies that are still with us here at Life Long Tails. I named some, Pumpkin Pie, Itty, Bitty, Itsy and Honey, Then Marco, Marcus and Nicholas, plus another female I named Paprika. I should have them on Petfinder soon.
I also took loads of cat pictures, mainly Motorman, Martie and Melissa, they were being too cute!
I'll post the pictures as soon as they are downloaded

Brrrr...

It has gotten cold enough that we needed to start up the space heater in the basement, can't let anyone get too cold.

Weekend of Adoptions

This time I will relate all the adoptions we have had , starting on Friday.

Friday , Dawn G and her son, Nate, stopped by for some photo taking she took pictures of Rocky Road the guinea pig, Fiona the rabbit, Snowy the rabbit, Elso and Pugsley the rabbits, Jazz the parakeet and Ben, Bill and Bart the hamsters. Oh, and also Spade and Diamond the hamsters. I have added most of them to Petfinder, but Elso and Pugsley have been up for adoption since March 2007, Dawn just took better pictures of them than I did. Dawn also adopted Davy Jones and Jack the rat brothers. They finally have the perfect home :) She just sent me an excellent picture of Jack the rat in his new home. He does look very happy, doesn't he?

Dash the guinea pig was also adopted on Friday, he has a nice family. Mom, Dad and daughter and they have guinea pig experience, they recently lost their piggy to old age and missed a piggy around the house. Dash is charming and a great companion, I know he'll fit in well and there Will be lots of love to go around.

Next on Friday, 2 hamsters from the 43 drop off were adopted. Lenny and Ned went home. A couple with a love for the small furry guys took them home and into their hearts. Pictured above is Lenny.

On Saturday another 2 hammies from the 43 drop off was adopted. These 2 weren't named yet, they were just weaned from Momma and old enough to be on their own. Two females, a black one and an albino one were chosen from the group of babies. Momma didn't mind since she had a recent litter that she is tending to right now. This is the Mom I spoke of in the entry from yesterday that wasn't taken away from the males soon enough.
It has been a great weekend, thank you everyone !:)

More Hammies

9 dwarf hamsters were dropped off today, and I am a bit, well, more than a bit, upset!
These little guys were all in the same cage together, which isn't a problem except they are a mix of boys and girls and they aren't getting along together. There is a female that is VERY pregnant, and she is all bloody and has her face ripped up! I now have her alone in her own cage , I cleaned up her face and wounds and I am sure she is about to give birth any day now. There is a male that I am worried about , he is sluggish, lethargic. I don't see any obvious signs of illness other than his lack of energy. he doesn't have any wounds or lumps. First I'll see if he is dehydrated or hungry, I'll place him in his own cage , by himself and see if that helps him. If not, I'll contact the emergency vet. There are other girls too , which are very likely pregnant too.
I have also discovered one of the female that came from the 43 dwarf hamster drop off has given birth. I haven't counted all the babies yet , but I saw at least six. She obviously wasn't separate from the males soon enough, I took her away from the males the same day they arrived, but they must have already impregnated her. Hey, it only takes seconds for that to happen.
What is it about the dwarf hamsters that many people wind up with males and females when they thought they had one gender? then they wind up with litter after after litter, more hamsters than they ever wanted ..and truly don't want, they are desperate to get rid of them then. It has been happening all too often. I hope to find homes for all these darlings, they may have come into this world under sad and unwanted circumstances, but they deserve a loving home.
The syrian hamsters that are up for adoption, Tator Tot and Power Puff Girl, they really are nice hamsters but they have always been skittish. They try to hard to squirm out of hands and will even jump out of your hands. I've worked with them , but they don't seem to settle down while being handled. I know this lessens their chances of being adopted , since I understand that most people are looking for a handle able hamster to adopt. I have to say though that if someone is willing to give a hamster a home that is a bit of a challenge, it sure would brighten the world for Tator Tot or Power Puff Girl. They are loads of fun to watch at night as they climb and run in their wheels, they both love their exercise balls, especially Power Puff Girl, she'll climb right into the ball when you place it in front of you. They are beautiful long haired hamsters with an orangish coloring with white and black eyes, both are females.
I'll keep everyone updated on the newest litter of babies, the pregnant female with the wounds and the lethargic male.
plus I do have some happy adoption stories, I will tell everyone all about them in the next post.

Allergies and Sinuses

Two of our cats have been stuffed up and sneezy. In fact for a month we thought martie had an upper respiratory infection, he has been on Clavamox for three weeks and a week on something else, I think it was called simplicef. his mucus started out clear , then green , now it has been just been whitish and clear for weeks now. He just sounds stuffed up and sneezes once in a while. He went to see Dr.T yesterday with Martie and talked about Motorman who started sneezing on Monday, here is what I wrote in an e-mail about them both-

I think it is in the air this season, two of our cats don't have full blown respiratory infections but are having sinus problems. Martie the cat has had it for over a month and we thought it was a URI and he has been on antibiotics for the full month. We ( Martie and I) went to see Dr.T yesterday and Dr.T says there is a no way it is a URI at this point and defintely not contageous, because I mentioned how Motorman is sneezing and stuffed up now. He told us Martie may have chronic sinus problems this time of the year ( Marite is new to us, we adopted him just a few months ago) or he may have something stuck up in his sinuses that won't break down or a polyp that needs to be removed. Martie has an appointment now, he will be sedated so Dr.T can look into his sinuses and see if anything is there, plus he will flush out the mucus. Motorman has always had a problem with allergies this season , he overgrooms himself and gets all stuffy and runny ( in his nose). He has been licking off his fur more than usual and is quite sneezy and wheezy. Motorman is now on Prednisone, this always works for him temporarily since we have had him on it before. He stops licking off his fur and he clears right up. Bad news is, he can't stay on Prednisone all the time. We just hope this helps him through the really bad season and make him more comfortable.

Both kitties are acting normal, very active and lovable, and they are eating and drinking and playing.. I just want their noses cleared up. Hopefuly the procedure will help Martie and the Prednisone will help Motorman soon, he gets his first dose tonight when Ray, the hubby gets home. I hold Motorman while he opens his mouth and drops the pill in :)
Here is a picture of Motorman chewing on a carboard scratcher ( after it has been destroyed by scratching and tearing it apart) you can see on his right foreleg where tend to overgroom his fur off. he also overgrooms his belly. He's my firstborn ;) the very first cat I adopted, he is 12 years old now.

Snowy the rabbit

On Monday a new bunny was brought to us. His name is Snowy he is mainly white with small flecks of brown in him. He has small ears, but he is a large bun, not quite sure of what breed he is, probably a mix of all different types. That sure doesn't take away from his adorableness. He settled in quickly here , he was soon eating his pellet food and munching on hay. He also has been using his litter box like a champ. Such a good boy :)
I took the parakeet and the finch back in to see Dr.T. The finch had been open mouthed breathing and we started hm on a round of Baytril, he is all cleared up now and doing wonderfully. The parakeet that I named Jazz, is also in tip top shape. His lungs and heart was checked, his weight is good and Dr.T checked a fecal sample, everything is good with him. he is ready to be placed on Petfinder and go up for adoption.

Bonnie and Clyde, dollar store :):)

Today has been a productive day, I love these days the best. And also a happy day, Bonnie and Clyde and two of the hamsters now have a wonderful home, they were adopted today! Lauren is a new Mom to sugar gliders but she has done a lot of research and I told her what I could at the time, but I am at her disposal when she has any questions. Bonnie and Clyde were very reluctant to come out and make friends since it was day light and they were sleeping. Sugar gliders are strict nocturnal animals, it is best to interact with them at night or in the wee hours of the morning ( 5AM or 6AM) while they are still awake. Lauren who adopted Bonnie and Clyde also adopted two of the 43 dwarf hamsters. She isn't new to caring for hamsters and came with a nice crittertrail for their home. She picked a black colored girl and albino girl, both of them were eager to explore their new cage.
Ray and I had dinner with my parents, then we rented a movie called " Next" that we will watch later tonight. I just found out that Ray never saw "Adventures in Babysitting" a movie that I think was made in the eighties that I loved back then. We will have to rent that next time, he has to see it. Then we stopped at the dollar store, we bought some plastic baskets for the rats and willow wreaths for the rabbits to chew up.
I just cleaned out Fiona the rabbit's cage and gave her a wreath. I had made an appointment to have her spayed on Wednesday, but I have to work during the drop off time and pick up time, and Ray can't make it for these times either. I hate to do it , I'll have to cancel and make it for a different day, hopefully it won't be pushed back too far.
Here is a picture of Bonnie she says, " This is my good side."

Birthday :)

Oh yes, tomorrow is my birthday, I am turning the big 30! ahh, but I have such a happy and enriched life, with Ray and the animals ( mostly the animals, but don't tell Ray I said that , HA!) I can't even begin to express how much pets and animals in my life means to me. Since I was a little girl I have always wanted to care for and make animals feel better. I remember I was never happy going into someone's house that didn't have any pets, it never felt right to me. From the very beginning to the end, animals will always be a part of me.

Yesterday was a tragic day. Hyde the rat became seriously ill. Hyde was about 2 years old and always had his health issues. Just recently though he developed tumors in his nasal cavity and head area. These tumors either grew or multiplied or both , his head became swollen and he had difficulty even breathing. Foster Mom Dawn F, has been fostering Hyde for many months and she rushed our boy to see Dr.T. At Hyde's age surgery wasn't an option, there was no chance of him making it through such a procedure. It was in Hyde's best interest to have him put to sleep. He was suffering and in a great deal of pain and discomfort. I know it broke Dawn's heart to make such a decision and to say good bye, but it was the right thing to do and she did so many wonderful things for Hyde. He may not have had a great start in life, his previous owner didn't take good care of him, but since he arrived here and with Dawn, he was cherished and loved.

So far, 3 of the 43 hamsters are on Petfinder. Foster Mom, Dawn G takes the best pictures of the little guys :) I love her pictures so much I have asked her if she can be our picture person for the photos needed on Petfinder of all the rescues. Here are a couple of her hamster photos, aren't they spectacular?!

I have had many people let me know that they love this blog and have even bookmarked it. I am very flattered, I don't know what to say, but Thank you for the compliment. I mainly wanted to start a blog to keep everyone in touch with what we do and all the rescues that come in and get adopted out. I am so happy that so many read and enjoy it. I am sorry that there are many sad things, but I feel I don't want to leave anything out, the good and the bad gets added, it is part of rescuing. I promise to continue adding many more stories and happenings, plus pictures , hopefully Dawn's great pictures :)

Alvin's adoption

Here's Alvin! Yesterday , handsome gerbil boy, Alvin, was adopted. Alvin was brought to us because he was a kid's pet and the kids didn't want him anymore. He has been our very first gerbil rescue and adoption, there haven't been any other gerbils in the house before. His new Mom, Kathryne drove a distance to meet Alvin and I do believe it was love at first sight. Alvin was a tad shy at first, but it didn't take him long to venture out and scoot into Kathryne's hand. He's such a charmer , he's too much :)
We have a new foster home and foster family helping us out. Mom, Dawn and her little boy, I am so bad I have forgotten his name, strike one for me. Wonderful people and a great kid. They picked up a bunch of the hamsters from the big amount we received on Sunday. She took home 3 of the cages , and she'll be giving them lots of TLC until they find their forever homes. This helps me with the load of cages I'll need to clean, and makes more room for us for more rescues. I love foster families .

hamster workout

Whew, I am now exhausted. Besides working all day , I now spent over an hour and half going through the 43 hamsters that were brought to us today. I made sure everyone is in same sex groups and I must say, the previous owner did have them separated by gender perfectly. I placed everyone in clean cages and gave them fresh food, wheels, toys, tubes and a water bottle. The only issues I have noticed is that one has been getting beaten up and has a scabby bloody tail , he is now by himself to heal. And a female has a large lump on her underside and I suspect a mammary tumor. Otherwise, all the hamsters are healthy and look great. I thank anyone who is willing to foster these lil'guys :)

Big Hamster Rescue

We are taking in anywhere from 30 to 40 dwarf hamsters tomorrow. They are a result of many oops litters. Some of them are not friendly and may need some socialization or may stay aggressive. I have a feeling some may simply be cage aggressive.
If anyone is willing to adopt or foster hamsters for/from us this is a great time for it :) We need the help.
Thank you

There is happiness with adoptions

There are a couple of good stories, very happy adoptions :)

Autumn the bunny that has been with us and up for adoption for almost a year now, has finally found her forever home. She has always been a moody and difficult bun, that is why it was hard to find the right person and home for her. It takes someone willing to take on the challenge and with a lot of patience and understanding to deal with Autumn. But as moody as she is, she is adorable and does have her sweet moments. Thank you , Carrie, for fostering her for us for so long. And thank you Nicole, for adopting Autumn and giving her such a nice home.

Will the rat was adopted too. He went home yesterday with a nice couple. They have another rat, his name is Charlie. Charlie's partner recently passed away to old age and a tumor, and Charlie was left all alone. Now he has a great friend with Will, I received a nice e-mail today that they bonded instantly and are best buddies. They also left me a cute picture, I'll see if I can attach it to the blog.

We have a new arrival, a female bunny that someone found outside and took to HEART inc. The rescue HEART inc, was unable to keep the bunny and called us to see if we had room for her. And we did :) She is a pretty brown and white bun with straight ears, she is very mellow and handle able. She is using her litter box 100 % too , such a good girl! Now we need to get her spayed and think of a name for her.

The parakeet and 2 finches have an appointment with Dr.T on Thursday.

Here is a picture of Autumn and Will and Charlie the best friends

Sunday was a sad day

on Sunday morning I went over to greet Fagan, and found that he had passed away during the night. I was not expecting this, he ate his critical care very well the night before. I really thought and hoped he would overcome this like he did before, which was four months ago. He started eating and pooping again like normal. I still cannot believe he is gone. I am in grief over all the losses we have had recently, Jade , Champ, Tawney, Kodiak and now Fagan. Even though many of these guys were very ill and couldn't be treated, I still feel a lot of guilt over so many passing. Our house isn't the same without these guys. We sorely miss Jade's affection and bushy tail, Champ's vocals and outgoing personality, Tawney's purring as we pet him, Kodiak's greeting us as we approach the cage and now dear sweet Fagan. I knew we'd loose some pets as we rescue , especially since we take in rescues for "hospice care" and disabled, special needs ones, but many times I forget how difficult it is to say good-bye.

Here are Fagan pictures

Fagan and finches

I am afraid that Fagan is still not doing well. He went to see Dr.Fijas on Thursday and nothing was found wrong with him just like the last time he shut down on us. He trimmed his teeth down , but he told me they weren't bad at all, not enough to cause him to not drink or eat anything, and there are no sores or abscesses in his mouth. X-rays were inconclusive, nothing wrong showed up. But he has lost a whole pound! that is lot for a small bunny! I am still giving him critical care and Sub Q fluids, last night as I was giving him this I noticed a lump in him. It doesn' t seem to be attached to anything, not his skin or anything inside, I can move it around all over, but it feels very hard. It wasn't there when we were in to see Dr.Fijas, funny how that happens.

One of the society finches is open mouthed-breathing now, i fear this is a result of them being left outside on a cool evening and exposed, they weren't covered up in any way. I hope we can get him better ASAP. I'll call for the earliest (urgent) appointment for Fagan and the finches ( I'll take them both).

I always fear birds becoming ill that are found outside that is why I always get them checked out and wait quite a while before placing them up for adoption. Honestly, that is true for any pet that is found outside in the elements.
Here is a picture of Bandit, the ferret, laying in between Daddy, Ray's, legs. He just turned 6 and a half years old.

Martie , Parakeet and Rocky Road

I took a nice picture of our cat Martie , he looks really handsome doesn't he?
There are a couple of new arrivals. One is a 7 month old male guinea pig, his name is Rocky Road. His previous owner is moving into a place that doesn't allow guinea pigs and "had" to give up her piggy. He is very cute. He is frightened of the new place and many new smells, but I am sure he'll settle in soon. I'll be making an appointment real soon for Dr.T to check him over.
Our good friend , Judy, called about parakeet they found in their backyard, eating from their bird feeder! This bird is so hand tame and sweet, he was definitely some one's pet, and we will hold onto him in case an owner shows up around Judy's and look into any local ads in the paper and Internet for anyone looking for a parakeet that matches the description of the one we have. Judy did bring the parakeet us, she wasn't equipped to handle the sudden bird in the house, plus she rescues cats and has many more than we do.
Fagan is doing the same, he was loved by our friend Ann, who will be volunteering her time to love and socialize the rescues. She brushed him and gave him raisins which he did eat right up. So he does have somewhat of an appetite, if a sweet tooth still. Hopefully he'll be back to eating and pooping like normal very soon, I really worry about him.

Kodiak and Fagan

I am afraid our friend and companion Kodiak had deteriorated to the point where it was best for him to be put to sleep. To ease his suffering. For those that are just starting to read this blog, the ferrets, Kodiak and Americana, came to us with Lymphoma, a horrible cancer. Kodiak's Lymphoma was much more advanced than Americana's. Both of them came here as a hospice stay, we provide them with love, luxury and comfort for their remaining days, weeks, months, years, however long they have. Each day with them has been a joy, these two ferrets perk up when their human comes near and get even more excited when the door to the cage is opened and they are let out to romp and play and explore, a favorite ferret past time. Seeing Kodiak become so ill from the cancer was difficult, he lost interest in food and became so weak that walking was difficult. He still lifted up his head when I was near , even though he couldn't lift the rest of his body. I gave him kisses and head rubs at his end, I held his head and told him "good-bye" Here is a picture of Kodiak when he was feeling good, he loved to watch those hamsters and always hoped one would jump into his mouth. Never happened though, sorry buddy.

Our head tilted rabbit is in GI stasis again, he has stopped eating and pooping. I started force feeding critical care and giving him sub-Q fluids the moment I knew he wasn't doing well. I am also giving him the same meds we did last time this happened to him. I have been consulting the vet over the phone about him, but I will call to get him in at the first available appointment on Monday. Let's hope he pulls through this as well as he did last time.

Preston, new arrivals and vet trip

First off, over the weekend , little Preston bunny was adopted. He was the bunny that was found at a local park in the Rochester area. Someone saved him from being hit with sticks. A bunch of kids were throwing sticks at him. The person that drove the kids away and scooped up Preston, brought him to us so we could find a home for him. ( we neutered him too) He has a great home with a family , there are 2 young boys that love rabbits. Their next door neighbor also loves rabbit and Preston himself. Preston will always have lots of attention and love.

Their are 4 new arrivals that came as pairs. Two guinea pigs were brought to us, they are males. There is allergies in the household where they needed to get rid of the piggies :( And it is unfortunate that the ones who bought the piggies did not know their ages and they didn't even have names for them :(:( They also have too long of nails and are filthy, they need a bath. I will wait a couple more days before submitting them to the stress of a nail trim and bath, they only arrived two days ago. They have seen Dr.T already , and they are in good shape despite their "neglect" with their nails and fur condition. They do have lice, and I will be giving them their first treatment of advantage tonight to kill all the lice, they will get another treatment in a month. They won't be adoptable until their last treatment next month. I have named them Micheal and Myers, Halloween themed names. The other new arrivals are two society finches. They were left outside in their cage, no one around, all alone, they were abandoned! And it wasn't very warm out! They are doing okay though, they tuck inside their little nest together a lot. I have named them Rocket and Bullet. They will be adoptable once they see Dr.T too.

Besides Micheal and Myers, Bonnie the sugar glider and Blake the hamster saw Dr.T today as well. We found out today that Bonnie does not have any vision in that eye, and she more than likely never will. When the cornea was perforated, the eye shrunk back, normally a sugar glider's eye is bulgy and bulbous, her's shrunk back and doesn't stick out the way a normal eye would. It also still has a milky covering. The infection is gone, her eye will never be the same, so she is special needs. Her other eye is perfect and has full vision. The abscess and corneal "puncture" is what damaged the other eye. I took Blake in because one of his eyes developed a white cloudiness in the center. Dr.T says it is an ulcer and he can tell it is healing. Blake damaged his eye somehow, whether from his own nails or something in the cage, not sure. I now have eye drops to give him to help the eye heal faster and better. He should be just fine :)

This is a picture of Preston the rabbit, what a sweet heart he is. I am so glad he has a good home.

BML, groceries and Clyde

I am eating an Oreo cakester right now, and WOW, are they good! Very addicting too.
We did get the dryer fixed, it is working properly now. Fagan's (head tilted rabbit) pen was cleaned out really good last night and I brushed him, he is shedding like a wild man. There was so much fur on the ground after I brushed him that when Ray, the hubby, came downstairs and saw it he said " Who exploded!" I had to tell him that all the fur was just from Fagan.
Yesterday Clyde the sugar glider was neutered. We can't have him impregnating Bonnie. He did seem less active last night, probably sore, but he is eating and drinking. Bonnie's eye looks really good, it is clearing up. It seems like there will always be a white speck at the center where the actual corneal damage took place. I will make an appointment with Dr.T to evaluate what her vision will be from that eye, whether or not she is totally blind in that eye.
If all goes well, Both Bonnie and Clyde should be adoptable in a week or two.
I just went grocery shopping, and yes, as always , most of what I bought was for the pets and rescues. Lots of veggies and greens and fruits. I got tofu and baby foods. Most of the healthy food was for them , while Ray and I eat junk food, like Oreo Cakesters. I also stopped by Jo-ann Fabrics and bought 4 yards of fleece. I have been giving the hamsters and rats fleece to hide in and cuddle in. They like to sleep in it. If I had sewing talent I'd make hammocks and stuff with the fleece, but I really was a home Ed failure in school. I've just been cutting out pieces of it and laying it down in their cages to crawl into.
I have been hearing about great success with the BML diet for sugar gliders. And I have been thinking of switching over to it. I'll discuss it with Dr.T and see what he thinks of this diet. Here is a link to what this diet consists of http://exoticpets.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=exoticpets&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.isga.org%2Finformationcenter%2FHealthIssues%2Fanatomicalbreakdown1.htm I'll have to go grocery shopping again , I didn't buy all those ingredients while I was there. There are always errands to run.

Dryer on the fritz

Not much has happened today, just normal routine. I cleaned some hammies, and the sugar gliders, also cleaned Blaze the guinea pig. Now I'll clean and play with Kodiak and Americana the ferrets, once they are done, I'll play with Bandit the ferret. I'll also change out the 3 rat boys towels and hammocks, and give them some loving and attention.
Our dryer isn't working right, it is getting warm inside and is tumbling but it isn't drying. We do have a repair man coming in tomorrow. But it has put a halt on some of the cleaning I do. I need to clean Fagan's pen but he has mainly blankets and beds that need to go right in the washer and dryer, plus many of our rescues have beds, blankets, fleece and hammocks all which get washed and dried on a routine basis. Maybe that's why the dryer is protesting, heheh. Hope it is fixable. I dread the day something happens to the vacuum, I am constantly vacuuming up stray turds, hay and bedding. It is an unending process, but I'll do anything for these guys. Cleaning is the least I can do for them.
I'm going to head my way to the ferrets , good night everyone :)

Pyro's adoption and crab cleaning

Today, Pyro the baby water dragon was adopted. His new Mom also had adopted a river cooter from us that she named Stella. Their Mom is a herp lover and going to college to become a vet tech.
I just added Preston the rabbit to our petfinder adoptable list. His neutering went well and he is doing great, he is ready for his new home.
Tonight I'll be taking apart and cleaning the 55 gallon hermit crab tank. It is always a huge task, but they need it and it is worth it, it always looks so nice after a good cleaning. I take all the crabs out and let them soak in some salt water while I clean them. I'll clean their extra shells that they move into and add some new ones.
Here are a couple of pictures of the hermit crab tank after a cleaning. The only thing I do differently now is that I add sand in half the tank.

Bonnie's eye

I wanted to let everyone know that Bonnie the sugar glider is doing excellent. Her eye isn't so painful or infected anymore and she is able to hold it open now. There is a film over the eye, which could be the corneal perferation still healing, or she may be permanently blind in that eye. Time will tell as she heals even further. I am so happy that she has done so well, with Dr.T and the clavamox meds and Neomycin cream she has improved greatly and will be OK :)

Geckos and Neuters

I want to start out by saying how dearly we miss Champ. We still feel his prescence and even hear him , He had a different sounding squeak, wheek, then the rest of the piggies here, mainly louder. It is crushing to us, Champ and Tawney were the main reasons we started Life Long Tails, and they are both gone. Their miraculous recoveries and second chance at a good life is what motivated us to start rescuing and do the same for many others. Although they aren't physically here with us, their spirits remain and everything that they taught us. They live through us and Life Long Tails. Now I a crying..
I will quickly type out this then I need to get a tissue. Pedro and Pablo the leopard geckos have been adopted, and I am so happy with their new Mom, they couldn't have found a better home and parents. They deserve to be fed better and paid more attention too. Now I know they won't miss a meal and not just get fed twice a week and will always be clean and happy. Thank you Sarah :)
Preston the rabbit and the 3 rats Davey Jones, Will and Jack were all neutered yesterday. They are doing well, all are active and eating and recovering. I will continue to post on their progress after surgery.
O.K. That's all for now, We just have had some really difficult losses this year and it is really catching up to me.

Champ is gone....

Yes, we lost Champ last night. I had covered him up with a litte piece of fleece with Nemo on it. Then watched an episode of The Office. Before I turned in for bed I went to pet Champ and say good night and found that he had passed away in that amount of time. Ray and I made the decision so have a necropsy done on Champ to find out if more was wrong with him than just his neck. To us it seemed that more was ravaging his body then just that. And our assumptions were right, Dr.Fijas called and reported that Champ had a large clot in his Aorta in his heart. And that was definitely the main reason for all his problems and his ..gulp..death.. *sighs* The X-rays didn't show us this, we only saw the outside of his heart not the inside, plus his heartbeat was still strong and not muffled or irregular when we took him in on Monday which is so strange. I took Melissa our cat in to have her stitches out from her Spay, and dr.Fijas showed me the clot in a jar with Formaldehyde I nearly passed out , it was HUGE! Huge for a little piggy. I can't believe Champ held on as long as he did, now I feel bad that we didn't let him go and have him PTS, but we didn't know that was there. Poor Champ, we miss him. And I know my husband , Ray was just attached to Champ as I am. They let us have Champ back and we buried him. Shed some tears and gave our farewells. He will always be remembered and missed. here is a picture of Champ and Ray, they do go nicely together , don't they? They had a great relationship.

Bonnie pictures, a bit graphic- warning

Here are some pictures I have taken of Bonnie's progress with her eye. They are quite blurry, but you can still see the damage. I didn't take pictures of her when she first arrived, her eye and side of her face was swollen to twice it's normal size. This was from all the puss and the abscess . The pictures are from after Dr.T drained out all the puss so she isn't swollen anymore, but her eye still isn't open and you can see the infection still there and damage. In the one picture you can see the hole from where the abscess was and where it drained. The poor girl, but good news is, she is healing and looking much better.

Champ and Pyro

Champ is doing the same today, but he is developing a URI on top of what is wrong with him already, I feel horrible for him. Now he is on the pain meds and antibiotics too. He still isn't eating or drinking on his own so I am syringe feeding him critical care and baby food. I am also giving him Sub Q fluids under the skin as well as pedialyte. Please continue to send him healing vibes, he is such a great piggy , I hate seeing him feeling so under the weather, he needs to get better quick.
We did get a couple new arrival last week that I didn't post about. One is a little dwarf hamster, a boy by the name of Goober. I like to call him Goofy Goober. he loves his wheel and curling up inside his fleece blanket. We also got a water dragon I named Pyro. Pyro came to us with a fractured leg that had been fractured some time ago and was already pretty much healed. There wasn't anything Dr.T could do to help the leg out. The only indicator that shows he had a fracture is a small bump up by his shoulder area. It is hardly noticeable, and he does have full use of the leg. Dr.T told me he will still be able to grow normally and at a normal rate, because he is a TINY baby. He is actually shedding right now. He is so small and young I can't tell if he is a boy or girl, I am just saying he for the time being. Pyro is up for adoption right now, and Goober will be too once I get him in for a vet check up and all is clear and well.

I am worried about Champ

First off, Bonnie the sugar glider is looking much better. It is still difficult to see the actual eye, but the area surrounding the eyes is improving and is on the mend. I am so happy for her.

Now, our own guinea pig , Champ is very ill. It seems he somehow injured the vertibrae on his neck and has a pinched nerve. He is showing severe neurological symptoms plus he is in a lot of pain. Our vet doesn't want to give up on him nor do I, he recovered completely 3 years ago from being half paralyzed ( in the back legs), a spinal injury then too. ( I adopted him that way 3 years ago and I concluded that the injury was from someone roughly handling him or dropping him, but i do not know how he became injured this time). He is not moving much at all and has muscle tremors, he doesn't have an appetite. he is on pain medicine and I have been feeding him with a syringe and giving him fluids. We are hoping he makes some improvement in a few days, if not, we'll have to discuss Champ's best interests. But I really do not want to give up on him, I didn't 3 years ago, I cared for him the same way I am now and in 2 weeks, his little legs started moving and then miraculously he was walking on them. Please send him healing vibes, I really adore and love Champ. Here is an adorable photo of him before he became critically ill today.

Bonnie

took Bonnie the sugar glider to see Dr.t yesterday because she started to bleed out of the eye! I was scared for her and frantic! It seems she must have poked at her eye with her hand and nail and she did perforate her cornea, she made a small hole into her eye. And that was what bled. She isn't bleeding anymore and Dr.T is sure it will heal as long as she leaves it alone ( he said it is a shame that sugar gliders don't do well wearing an E-collar ( cone) to keep her away from her eye) The abscess is now a large hole under her eye. Which is a good thing , now that it is open, it won't fill up with puss anymore or became a huge and swollen infection. Dr.T told me not to worry, the hole and eye will heal, she may be blind in that eye though once it has all healed up. She'll live a normal life, she has her life long mate and boyfriend, Clyde to guide her. She is still on oral antibiotics and Dr.T added an antibiotic cream.

Oh no

I just saw that Bonnie now has blood coming from that area. Her eye doesn't open so the blood is coming out of that slit. I am so glad I have that appointment at 4:30 for her. Please keep your fingers crossed, I fear something may have happened to her eye. I'll update once I am back from the appt.

Ace and Gizmo, Rollo and Twizzler and Bonnie

I forgot to post about Rollo and Twizzler, the sugar gliders were adopted, also, Ace and Gizmo the guinea pigs were adopted too. Ace and Gizmo are the Peruvian piggies, they look like they are just a ball of long fur.
I am taking Bonnie the sugar glider with the infected eye back to see Dr.T again today. Her eye has a lot of puss coming of it again. Yesterday morning she spit out her medicine too :(. She sis swallow last nights meds and this morning's. I wish she was already better, but it seems like it is going to be a long road to recovery for her.
